The Extra Curricular Programmer
At the close of the formal school day, students in KS1, 2 and 3 are expected to enroll onto one of the extra-curriculum programmes to extend and enhance their understanding of work done during the day and also to begin to develop their own individual gifts and talents. Students also learn to make choices about how they want to spend their leisure time, and to set themselves targets to achieve, important lessons for later life.
Activities fall broadly into 4 groups, English Support, Drama, Music and Sports; each club lasts for approximately an hour and run Monday to Friday. On Wednesday’s the school staff has their own professional development and meeting programme, and teachers will not be involved in clubs. Clubs will be available from outside agencies on Wednesday, but their will be a charge made for these clubs.
Students not attending one of these outside clubs on Wednesdays should be collected promptly at 2.45 on Wednesdays. This could be an opportunity for students to join clubs outside the school, to visit librarties or museums with parents or simply to relax and socialize with friends in a local park.
We belived that clubs are an important part of the school day. It is a time when children can choose to take part in activities that foster and develop their talents or where theycan extend or develop their academic abilities
