Heathfield International School, 10/22 Moo 4 Ramkhamhaeng Road, Saphansung, Bangkok 10240, Thailand ‘Where Every Child Matters’

Friday 21st March 2008

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It has been a fantastic month for our students who have had so many different things to do. Our Key stage 3 and 4 students have been on an educational visit and stayed over at Khao Keow Open Zoo. All the students were excited and had a great time learning about the animals in the park and about our world that we live in. For many students it was the first time they have been away from home, but with all the exciting things in the program, I do believe everybody was busy learning and having fun. I know also that Mr. Stephen, Ms. Wan, Mr. Mark, Ms. Annie and myself had a wonderful time seeing our students becoming one with nature and seeing what a beautiful country and planet we live in.

Also this month we have had Key Stage 2 trip to Ayutthaya where our students went to see this ancient and historic city and to learn new things about Thai culture.

This month also saw the first Heathfield International School Sports day. I have to say that I have personally been involved in many sports days at various schools, but this has to be one of the best ever.

I would like to thank all those parents who actively took part in the combined races and games. Congratulations to the parents chair ball team who have once again shown that they are a formidable team. Next year the teachers will have to do some practice beforehand, if they are to avoid another defeat.

Well done to all our boys and girls who joined in the sports day and to remember that winning is nice, taking part is even better. A big cheer and congratulations goes out to York (Green House Colour) team who narrowly took this year’s trophy by beating Tudor, as the first champions of Heathfield International School. I am sure that Stewart, Tudor and Lancaster will be close on your heels next year and will be hoping to be the champions.

Our students are doing really well in sporting and artistic activities. Please visit www.TisacThailand.com and see that Heathfield International School is represented in the football, music and art events. Please keep looking at the TISAC website as Heathfield will become even more involved with this organisation and you will see just what talented children we have at our school.

Many of our children excel in Music, Sports and Arts and I am sure you will hear more from them in the future.

I would also like to thank all those parents who took the time to listen to my presentations this week. Not only was it very informative for myself, hearing your views and opinions, but also just how positive and interested you all are in the future and development of this school. It shows, I believe that the school has a bright future ahead and that parents are very positive and optimistic on what the future holds.

I would also like to congratulate Thitipat Suksirithanun of year 10, who has been at the school for 3 years and has demonstrated just how good the teaching is at Heathfield. We have received a letter from the United States of America Exchange Student Scholarship, explaining what a good student he is and commenting on Heathfield International School and the quality of training and education that he has received here.

Thitipat has done extremely well and received a scholarship to study in America for a year and came 7th out of 300 students, who were also applying for a place. I am sure we all wish him well studying in America and look forward to his speedy return.

May I also remind you that the school has a Council of International Schools (CIS) accreditation visit, starting the week of March 31st 2008 and the school will close for your children on Wednesday 2nd April until Monday April 21st, when we return for the start of the third academic term of 2007-2008.

Yours truly
Stephen O’Connor
